It’s That Time of Year…

Yes, another year is slipping by.  Thanksgiving, then Christmas.  It seems like only a couple of months ago, I was preparing for Christmas.  See, I have it hard every Christmas.  With so many children that all they want is clothes to wear; a coat or shoes.  A little boy that says I need some pants that fit me, a little girl that seems to have just summer clothes saying my baby brother hadn’t got nothing to wear.  God has always sent the money or the presents to take care of these children.  I went with the Christian School to do mission work last Friday.  A lady was trying to find some blankets and pillows for a family that was staying in a motel in York.  Probably one more night and they would be sleeping in an old Nissan van they were driving.  The lady works at a place in York.  I asked her if I could come get them on Saturday; take them to the storage building at Rock Hill Truck to see if we could find some clothes to fit her and the kids.  She met me there.  We had a good time going thru the stuff outfitting the children.  The children also found a lot of toys.  That free yard sale stuff has sure been a blessing to a lot of families.  Pray about helping with needs for Christmas.  My staff will go buy the Christmas or call me and adopt a child for Christmas.
Just a couple of special requests from the past.  A twelve year old girl that wanted to meet her dad for Christmas; “Mr. Ronnie, would you find my dad so I could meet him?”  That’s all I want for Christmas.  Jesus sent us to this man that hadn’t been around for 10½ years.  He lived in Charlotte.
A lady I worked with at one of the 5 churches told me that she had 3 more children that wasn’t going to get anything for Christmas.  I told her to pray about it thru the night and I would too.  I was working General Tire on midnight shift.  A man said, Ronnie have you got the children’s Christmas covered?  I told him no.  He handed me $40…by the time I got off work, I had $700 to go shopping with.  I didn’t know…but Jesus knew that the 3 children weren’t all that needed Christmas covered.  The children’s wants are little, but their needs are big.  Pray about getting involved.

Just not enough going on…

A van ministry at First Church of the Nazarene, Sunday nights at Lakewood, Tuesday at Midtown, Wednesday morning at Grace Ministries and Wednesday nights back at Lakewood.  God spoke to me about being a Children’s pastor???  I mean I just didn’t understand.  I teach a lot of children every week.  I told several pastors this but I was waiting on God for my directions.  God spoke to me that I was to be at Temple Baptist on Sunday mornings.  Sometimes God’s call is hard on me.  I have worked with so many churches across the Rock Hill area in the last 6 years.  A lot of different ministries are up and running because of Kids for Jesus.  As I prayed for help, some of my bus kid’s dad told me that he wasn’t doing enough for the work of the Lord.  Richard said, “Mr. Ronnie, put me to work.”  Richard called me and told how God spoke to him.  This man keeps a journal concerning his walk with God.  I told him I would like to share one of the inserts of the journal…
In mid September, Kids for Jesus Ministry had a tent revival that would change my life forever.  As I helped set up the tent, sound equipment, among doing what I could to keep the tent going, little did I know I would get so involved in this ministry.  Ronnie and I would talk on the phone every morning about the events for the day. After the revival ended, we decided to keep the trend going, speaking on the phone or meeting for a biscuit.  The Lord began dealing with me about getting more involved.  I started sending out letters explaining the ministry (that wasn’t enough).  Ronnie started talking to me about driving a bus to help take some kids to church.  On October 30th, I imagined myself standing on the judgment.  A child was looking me in the eyes and said, “If you had drove the bus, I wouldn’t be in hell.”  I knew I had to drive the bus.  Ronnie is giving me the tools I need to get my CDL license.   As I get behind the wheel of a Kids for Jesus bus, I’m staring on a journey that only God knows where it’s heading.  I’m just along for the ride.

Pray for Richard, he got his permit to drive.  Richard will start a bus ministry at Temple Baptist, mid January.  Truly a story with no ending.
